ASU student we allowed to visit the Alabama Port Authority, Container Facility and Austal Ship Builders. The major products for the Alabama Port Authority are iron, steel, aluminum, coal and cement. Due to the economic downturn the construction indudstry has been hot hard. Therefore, the cement industry is slow in production. In addition wharfage, dockage and storage are the 3 services the Alabama Port Authority and Container Facility conduct. Contries of export and import include Mexico, Korea, Venezuala and Brazil.

Container Facility terminology include pig iron terminal tbars teu and service stalls. A 20 ft container is called 1 TEU. A 40 ft container is called 2 TEU's. For trucks to enter prt they must be ISO certified. Workers entering the port have a TICS card. A TICS card is a transportation Indentification Credit System. This card makes it virtually impossible for any non worker to enter the site.
